OC Marathon this Weekend May 5-6 in Costa Mesa

OC Marathon in Costa MesaThe 14th annual OC Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K , in addition to Kids Run the OC, is happening this weekend! Join the fun as thousands of runners will run through Costa Mesa and Newport Beach – and cheer on your friends and other participants.

Saturday’s schedule:

  • 1-mile Kids Run starts at 8am
  • Wahoo’s OC 5K, starts at 5pm

Both of will start and finish at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa.

Sunday’s schedule:

  • Participants in both the 26.2-mile marathon and the 13.1-mile OC Half Marathon will take off in front of the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa
  • Starting times are 5:30 and 6:15am., respectively. Both courses end at the OC Fair & Event Center.

Adopt a cat from the Moon Cat Cafe – Check it out at this weekend’s Pet Expo!

Moon Cat Cafe Costa MesaCheck out the Moon Cat Cafe this weekend at America’s Family Pet Expo in Costa Mesa.

The Cat Cafe is a modified delivery van where potential adoptive families can meet cats in a cage-free setting. So far, over 30 cats have been rehomed. You can read more about it here.

Moon Cat Cafe will be outside the cat building at the America’s Family Pet Expo from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The expo is at the OC Fair & Event Center.

Volunteer at “Love Costa Mesa” :)

Love your city? Join the thousands of volunteers who will fan out across northern Orange County on April 28 to pull weeds, paint benches, mend fences and wash cars for the annual “Love Our Cities” day of service.

Join other volunteers for a simultaneous, multi-city, one-day service where you beautify schools, install drought resistant landscape, care for and equip at-risk youth, and spruce up neighborhoods, care for others in need, and many more volunteer service projects! The project started in Fullerton in 2014 and has been getting bigger every year.

OC Music Showcase (OCSX) Coming up This Weekend!

Come on out to the first-ever OCSX (OC Music Showcase) at The Wayfarer in Costa Mesa, from April 26-28, inspired by South by Southwest (SXSW).

John Hampton, a producer who runs the Irvine-based Hampton Productions, will present the first-ever OCSX which will feature bands and artists such as David Rosales, Robert Jon & The Wreck, and Big Monsta. Ticket prices for each show range from $5 to $8 and are available at www.wayfarercm.com.

Hampton says the lineup is a perfect sampler of the kinds of music Orange County is producing.
