Historic landmark, Mission San Juan Capistrano was a spanish colonial in what was colonial Las Californias; known today as Orange County. The Mission is full of culture and history as it was once home to indigenous people before European Catholics established a Mission there. Originally built as a self sufficient community by Spanish Padres and Native Americans, the Mission was a center for agriculture, industry, education and religion.
The Mission is open to the public for tours as a way to help preserve and spread knowledge of the culture. During your visit, you can walk the 10 acre grounds to explore the beautiful garden and ruins of architecture, feed koi fish, and watch reenactments. Current exhibits include Mission Treasures which highlight the historical artifacts dating back to the early 1700s. Be sure to check their website to find out what kind of events are going on each day at the Mission. Some Saturday evenings you can catch the Music Under the Stars Summer Concert Series featuring tribute bands of popular classics.
